Operating Costs for Underfloor Heating

All heat A room heaters must be installed with an RCD (residual current device) unit connected by a registered electrician. The RCD detects any slight loss in current and all power to the circuit will be shut down.

To work out an estimate of running costs we take say an average charge of electricity of 20 cents per kilowatt hour and assuming you are using a 7 day programmable thermostat operating 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening switching at 50% of the time your cost for an average bathroom is about (20c X .4 X 6 /2 )= 24 cents per day. For a family room of say 16 metres an estimate would be about (20c x2 x6 /2 )=120 cents per day.

With our new Thermal Acoustic Cork Underlayment costs even reduce further as there is very little heat loss to the substrate and all heat is transferred quickly to the tile.

A standard undertile heated floor takes about 30 -40 minutes to heat, but with Thermal Acoustic cork underlayment installed that time reduces to 10- 15 minutes a third of the time.

So all things being equal the running costs with Thermal Acoustic cork underlayment will be reduced by up to a further 66 %. Also remember there is further possible saving on installation as Thermal Acoustic Cork Underlay can be installed in place of Tile and Slate Underlay.
