Thermal acoustic underlayment Thermal acoustic cork underlayment can be put under carpet, ceramic tiles , vinyl, wood and bamboo flooring. The unique construction of Thermal cork consists of approximately 40 million air filled cells per cubic centimeter. The entrapped air serves as a very effective noise barrier while providing natural resilience and great insulation values as well as crack protection for ceramic tiles and hardwood flooring. Unlike synthetic underlays cork cells do not break down or lose their natural resilience even after years of heavy use. Thermal acoustic cork insulation used in conjunction with underfloor heating systems will help reduce energy consumption and increase savings on running costs. A standard undertile heated floor takes about 30 -40 minutes to heat, but with Thermal Acoustic cork underlayment installed that time reduces to 10- 15 minutes that is a third of the time. Potentially a saving of up to 66% on the running cost of undertile heating. Thermal Acoustic Cork underlayment can be installed for as little as $45 per square metre with a minimum total charge being applicable.
